Overview of  Dr. Phillips

I am Professor of Psychiatry, DeWitt Wallace Senior Scholar, and the Psychiatry Residency Research Director at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. I am also Attending Psychiatrist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

I've been dedicated to treating people with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and advancing knowledge about this often-severe condition, which can lead to suicide. My research studies on BDD were continuously funded by the National Institute of Mental Health for more than 20 years. This work included elucidating BDD's clinical features and the morbidity it causes, and developing and testing effective treatments (both medication and cognitive-behavioral therapy).

In addition to my publications in scientific journals and book chapters, I've written or edited 11 books. You can see my books at https://www.amazon.com/Katharine-A.-Phillips/e/B000AQ6NHI/ref=sr_tc_img_2_0?qid=1513628158&sr=1-2-acs

I've given more than 650 presentations for professionals around the world, including more than 140 Grand Rounds, and more than 500 media interviews.

In addition to practicing general psychiatry I specialize in BDD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, olfactory reference disorder, and other obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. I provide second opinions/consultations and treatment for people with these and other psychiatric conditions.
