Summary

  • I am board certified as a family nurse practitioner. In December of 2021, I returned to Kalamazoo to be closer to my family. I now work at WMed in the Center for Clinical Research as a Sub-Investigator and Clinical Research Coordinator.

As of March 2024, I am also employed by Signify Health to provide in-home assessments for participating insurance companies in order to assist with care coordination in collaboration with the member's health care team.

I worked at the Beaver Island Rural Health Center from August 2020 - November 2021.

From 2015-2020, I worked as an obesity specialist, national speaker, and advocate.

I find this and my work as an advocate and speaker very rewarding as I have struggled with severe obesity my entire life.

I graduated with my bachelor's in nursing in 2001 from Western Michigan University. I worked in cardiopulmonary critical care and later as outcomes specialist for critical care from 2001 to 2011. I had a particular interest in a healthy work environment, sepsis, and palliative measures in the critical care environment. I helped lead multiprofessional teams to improve patient outcomes (early mobility/liberation from ventilation, Keystone initiatives/bundles, sepsis pathways, skin protection when proning) and tracked outcomes using APACHE. I co-authored several abstracts/posters that were presented at the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

After I graduated with my master's in nursing from Grand Valley State University in 2011, I worked for IPC as a hospitalist at Spectrum in Grand Rapids. I returned to my roots in critical care at Ascension Borgess Hospital in 2013 when I joined the Rapid Response Team and was there until October of 2015 when I took a position at the bariatric center.
