Summary
- Dr. Wright is an internationally recognized expert in sustainability in healthcare and medical waste reduction. She obtained her BS in Biomedical Engineering and MD from Texas A&M University. She completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital Combined Residency Program. She then completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) at the Newton-Wellesley and Massachusetts General Hospitals’ program.
She was Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lahey Clinic and Tufts University School of Medicine for five years before being recruited to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2017, where she is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Director of the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Division and Associate Program Director for the fellowship in MIGS.
She serves as a board member for the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy and in multiple educational roles for the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
She is a global thought leader and has lectured and published widely on reducing the impact of US healthcare on patients, including cost-minimization for hysterectomy, implementing enhanced recovery after surgery, increasing telehealth utilization, increasing sustainability in the OR, and decreasing hospital waste production and carbon emissions. Additionally, she runs the endometriosis center at Cedars-Sinai, combining bench research and high-volume surgical care to learn more about the disease, leading to a publication of the first cellular atlas for endometriosis in Nature Genetics last year. She is interested in gender equity for female surgeons and their patients.
