  • Dr. Klemens Barth is an interventional radiologist based in Washington, DC. He completed his radiology-radiation oncology residency at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University/TJUH, after graduating 1966 from Univ Freiburg- Fac Med. Following Board certification in Radiology by the ABR June 1973, he returned to his native Germany as instructor in radiology and radiological interventions at the University of Freiburg Hospitals. He returned to the US as Asst. While in Freiburg he started experimental work on mesenteric ischemia, which he continued at JHH resulting in establishment of a radionuclide test for bowel infarction. He was Interim Director of Radiology Research in 1977 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1978, a title he maintained part time after leaving JHH until June 2016.
