  • Krishna R. Cidambi, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacements. His areas of expertise include anterior total hip replacement (minimally invasive hip replacement), posterior total hip replacement, total knee replacement and partial knee replacement.

    He also performs surgeries to repair fractures around total hip and knee replacements (periprosthetic fractures), as well as surgeries to fix failed joint replacements (complex revision joint replacement surgery).

    Dr. Cidambi believes in a patient-centered approach and is passionate about educating patients and their families so that they understand their hip and knee conditions and all treatment options available to them.

    His research examines a range of topics related to improving outcomes for individuals who need a joint replacement, including component position and implant selection in anterior total hip arthroplasty and the use of computer navigation systems for total joint replacement. He has also published on the use of gap balancing and intraoperative force sensors to improve total knee arthroplasties.

    Dr. Cidambi completed fellowship training in total joint replacements at Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine, Calif. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at UC San Diego School of Medicine, and was a research fellow in orthopedic bioengineering at Rady Children’s Hospital, San Diego. He earned his medical degree from UC San Diego School of Medicine.

    Dr. Cidambi is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

    Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, basketball, hiking and travel.
