Summary
- I am board certified in emergency medicine (1991), medical toxicology (2002), and addiction medicine (2015). I entered addiction medicine because I was tired of only being able to address the complications of addiction but never being able to get to the underlying disease. Besides my EM life and still being the Chief of Med Tox at UTSW since 2003, I now oversee the Perinatal Intervention Program at Parkland Memorial Hospital (PMH)...if you are pregnant and have a SUD...you are one of my patients. And since Parkland delivers more babies than any hospital in the country...there are plenty of patients.
