  • Laura Kragie, M.D. is both a licensed physician and a research scientist specializing in Translational Medicine. She heads and owns the consulting firm BioMedWorks® LLC (est. 1997) and in that capacity, has helped many firms grow their pipeline of products through their Translational Sciences program.

    Dr. Laura Kragie has contributed significantly to both clinical practice and bench science. She was one of the first doctors in the United States to treat HIV/AIDS patients and more recently, was part of the H1N1 Pandemic Flu Response Team. This reflects her career long involvement with science's and medicine's bleeding edge. Some highlights from her career in Translational Medicine include pioneering work on thyroid hormone/drug membrane transporters, azole inhibition of estrogen synthesis, and gender differences. She contributed to the development of several successful pharmaceuticals, and also identified important safety issues. She is especially interested in Mechanism of Action, Proof of Principle and First in Human studies.
