- Laura Petersen, MD, is a board certified internist and professor of medicine based in Houston, TX. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in 1991, following her graduation from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1988. Her research is focused on improving our understanding of how the quality, safety, and efficiency of health care can be improved to improve the health of the population. She has held held continuous federal funding as PI since 1995 of over $52.6M, and her CV lists over 230 publications. Her recent publications cover a range of topics, including implications of health care policy changes such as Medicaid expansion and ACA subsidies, and nursing workforce issues. Additionally, she has been involved in clinical trials focusing on using financial incentives to translate hypertension guidelines into practice.
