Summary

• After a 4 year psychiatry residency at Wright State/Wright-Patterson, I spent 4 years as Chief of Mental Health at Barksdale AFB,LA. Thereafter I settled in the central Ohio area where I have done private practice, been Chief of this that and the other both in and outpatient practice - addiction, child/adolescent, adult general psychiatry. I strongly believed in the power of psychopharmacology to relieve pain and suffering. Despite practicing "cutting edge" medicine, I could not help but recognize certain patterns in patients who did not improve. This generated a dawning recognition of what is becoming obvious to many physicians and some psychiatrists: the body is one piece. I expanded my knowledge base to include functional medicine and used it in combination for several years until my recent retirement. It has been an honor to serve my fellow humans as a physician; and, as I suspected, the practice of psychiatry never became boring! However, there are other interests that I want to pursue.
