Summary

• Dr. Lloyd Harvey is a physician-scientist specializing in vascular biology and cardiopulmonary disease. He earned his BS in Neuroscience, Chemistry, and Italian Language & Literature at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating summa cum laude and with honors, before completing his MD and PhD in Molecular Pharmacology and Vascular Biology. Under the mentorship of Dr. Stephen Chan, his doctoral research uncovered new roles for lysosomal sterol metabolism in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), spanning mechanistic studies in rodent models to large-scale genomic and metabolomic analyses in human cohorts.
  
  His work has led to a first-author publication in Science and patents for novel therapeutic strategies targeting vascular inflammation. He has been recognized with the American College of Cardiology Young Investigator Award (2024), the American Heart Association’s Cournand and Comroe Early Career Investigator Prize (2022), and an NIH F30 Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (2018).
  
  Dr. Harvey completed Internal Medicine residency at UCLA in the STAR Physician-Scientist Training Program and is currently a Cardiology fellow in the same track. His career goal is to translate fundamental discoveries in endothelial metabolism into innovative therapies for patients with vascular disease.
