    Areas of Clinical Interest:
Outpatient sleep medicine consultation and hospital sleep medicine.

Sleep disorders: obstructive and central sleep apnea, treatment adherence issues associated with positive airway pressure therapy, sleep related hypoventilation, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, circadian rhythm disorders, insomnia, hypersomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, periodic limb movement disorder, and parasomnias.

Respiratory failure caused by neuromuscular disease, chest wall deformity, lung disease and congestive heart failure using noninvasive ventilation (NIV) delivered through a variety of ventilatory modes.

    Clinical research:
Dr. Chi is a site principle investigator and co-investigator for NIH-sponsored clinical trials:

    1. The Impact of Low Flow Nocturnal Oxygen Therapy on Hospital Admissions and Mortality in Patients With Heart Failure and Central Sleep Apnea
    2. The impact of treating obstructive sleep apnea on mild cognitive impairment
    3. The effect of CPAP on cardiac function in hospitalized patients with obstructive sleep apnea and heart failure
    4. Reducing heart failure re-admissions by enhancing CPAP adherence
