• Dr. Maisie Shindo is an otolaryngologist based in Portland, OR, specializing in head and neck oncologic surgery. She completed her internship and residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at USC-LA County General Hospital, following her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in 1984. She then completed a head and neck oncologic surgery fellowship at Northwestern University, followed by microvascular surgery at Ohio State University. Her early career focus was in head and neck microvascular surgery as well as laryngology. Later in her career she evolved as a national expert in head and neck endocrine surgery. She has published and lectured extensively on head and neck microvascular reconstruction, thyroid cancer surgery, parathyroid surgery, parathyroid ultrasonography, postoperative opioid reduction and use of virtual reality in management of postoperative pain. She has been recognized with honors such as America's Top Doctors and America's Top Doctors for Cancer.
