She further specialized through a fellowship in cardiovascular disease, including pacemaker implantation and interventional cardiology, at McLaren Health Care/Greater Lansing/MSU. Dr. Markarian has worked as an attending cardiologist at the Thoracic & Cardiovascular Institute and as an assistant clinical professor at Michigan State University. As an MSU professor she taught medical students clinical cardiovascular diagnosis, trained medical students, residents and cardiology fellows (both DO and MD), established 2 TEE programs and pioneered a TEE/cardioversion program. Currently, she is a private practice cardiologist at Kailua Cardiology and Upcountry Cardiology. She has expertise in general cardiology, echocardiography, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, pacemakers and ICDs, cardiac critical care, and critical care medicine. She loves her field which is a wonderful intersection of medicine and biotechnology.
