She completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2007 at Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Tech, followed by a transitional year internship at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, FL. She was called to active duty service as a US Air Force flight surgeon in 2008 and served from 2008 to 2012 at Joint Base Charleston, SC. Upon completion of active duty military service in 2012 she re-entered her family medicine residency at the Southern Regional Area Health Education Center/Duke University Hospital and completed this in 2014. She and a colleague opened Ben Sawyer Primary Care clinic with the Medical University of South Carolina in 2014 and worked there from 2014-2016. Since 2017, she has been practicing as a physician with the Roper St. Francis Physician Partner's urgent care clinics (Express Care clinics). As of 2022, she has been a medical director for CVS Minute Clinic virtual care services in SC.
