- Dr. Alrifai is a practicing neonatologist, an associate professor of pediatrics, and an associate professor of biomedical informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is board-certified in Pediatrics, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and Clinical Informatics and has a master's degree in Applied Clinical Informatics. He is the VUMC Associate Chief Medical Information Officer, leading informatics operations at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. He designed and implemented applications that impacted neonatal and pediatric care inside and outside VUMC, including applications adopted within Epic’s foundation system.
Dr. Alrifai’s research is focused on the development and implementation of provider and nursing workload models, and he has federal funding to investigate the use of EHR-integrated models for workload assessment.
