Overview of Dr. Cappello

I am a department chair (Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases) in the School of Public Health and an Infectious Diseases specialist in the Department of Pediatrics at Yale University, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis. My research focuses broadly on tropical diseases and molecular parasitology, with a particular interest in the impact of helminth infections and malaria on maternal-child health. I'm also engaged in program development projects aimed at building public health research and implementation capacity in low/middle income countries. Outside of medicine and public health, my professional interests include African Studies, international relations, and global leadership development.
