Michael L. Knudsen, MD is a board-certified orthopedic shoulder and elbow surgeon at Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian. He specializes in the treatment of complex shoulder and elbow conditions, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, arthritis, fractures, sports injuries, and primary and revision shoulder arthroplasty.
Dr. Knudsen combines high-level academic expertise with extensive experience caring for athletes and active patients. He currently serves as Assistant Team Physician for Iona University and has previously provided orthopedic coverage for the Minnesota Twins, St. Paul Saints, Columbia Athletics, and the New York Yankees.
As an academic surgeon, Dr. Knudsen is active in research, education, and national specialty leadership. He has published widely in shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine, mentors fellows and trainees at Columbia, and serves in editorial and committee leadership roles with JBJS, AAOS, and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
