- Michael Lopez, MD, FAAP, FACS is the division chief of ophthalmology at Dayton Children's Hospital. Dr. Lopez excels in all conditions involving pediatric eye care. From more common in office vision issues to surgical care, such as ptosis (drooping eyelids), strabismus, pediatric cataracts, congenial tear duct problems and more!
He attended the University of Miami in Florida and earned a Bachelor of Science in biology. As a Foote Fellows Honors Program member, Dr. Lopez was given the academic freedom to pursue a litany of minors in chemistry, psychology, modern Languages and creative writing. Afterward, he obtained a medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Lopez trained at Tampa General Hospital and Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital for a pediatrics internship before his ophthalmology residency training at USF. His clinical training included a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Lopez has been elected as a fellow in both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons.
