  • Dr. Michael Roth is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, Los Angeles, with a joint appointment in Environmental and Molecular Toxicology. He also serves as the Vice-Chairman for Research Compliance within the Department of Medicine. He practices clinical medicine as a pulmonary and critical care specialist. He completed his medical education and training with a fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine, as well as a residency in Internal Medicine, at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Roth has worked at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center since 1989. He has extensive experience dealing with chronic lung diseases with specific areas of clinic interest including chronic cough, bronchiectasis, COPD with emphysema, asthma, lung nodules, lung fibrosis and connective tissue associated interstitial lung disease.

    As a full-time faculty at the David Geffen School of Medicine, Dr. Roth is actively involved in teaching, research, administration and patient care. He is recognized nationally for his research in the fields of cancer, applied immunology and cancer immunotherapy, the toxicology of inhaled substance abuse (including cannabis, cocaine, tobacco and electronic cigarettes), and the development of new therapies for the treatment of emphysema and scleroderma-related interstitial lung disease. Dr. Roth has also helped to develop and lead important clinical trials including the Scleroderma Lung Studies (I, II and III) and the Feasibility of Retinoids for the Treatment of Emphysema. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, Association for Cancer Research, American Association for Immunologists, Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, and the Jonsson Cancer Center/UCLA.
