He completed his surgery residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego (1976-1981) and then pursued a fellowship in vascular surgery at the same institution (1981-1982). He is the Senior Trauma and Vascular Surgeon at Scripps Mercy Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center where he was the Trauma Medical Director from 1994- 2016.. Dr. Sise has contributed to the field through several publications. His research has focused primarily on trauma care, including vascular injuries, head injury, DVT/PE, and costs associated with trauma care, among other topics. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Sise continues to practice peripheral vascular disease and to participate in the Trauma GME and Research Programs.
