Summary

  • I have been a board-certified internist since 1997 after completing medical school at UC Davis and residency at UCSF/San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH). I have had a diverse and fulfilling internal medicine/public health career spanning academic medicine (SFGH), state public health (CA AIDS Director), and global health (CDC Country Director in Tanzania and Botswana). Before moving into public/global health in 2007, I maintained an HIV/general medicine continuity clinic for 10 years at SFGH; I continued that practice as a volunteer for the 4 years that I was the CA State AIDS Director. I spent over a decade teaching medical students and residents in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. I re-certified in internal medicine in 2017.
