Summary

  • I am a practicing generalist, with an interest in public health, preventive medicine, and integrative medicine, in that order. I focus on prevention, especially health literacy through patient education, e.g., the difference between A1c and daily glucose. Only 20% of health outcomes relate to clinical therapy, while the physical environment and behavioral factors account for 80% of health outcomes. As one example, the Sister Health Study indicates that both systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure are higher in 35 to 70-year-old women with sisters who have a hx of breast cancer; these two clinical measurements are higher in these women at least partly due to chronic exposure to small particulate matter air pollution.
