Summary

  • Minna Kohler, M.D.RhMSUS is the founder and Director of the Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSKUS) Program at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Dr. Kohler completed a clinical & research rheumatology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. Prior to her rheumatology training, Dr. Kohler completed 3 years of general surgery training, and a 2 year NIH-sponsored fellowship in Image-Guided Therapy in the Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Kohler received diagnostic/ interventional MSKUS training in the Yale MSKUS program for surgeons in the Department of Orthopaedics/Rehabilitation. Dr. Kohler is key faculty for both the MGH rheumatology fellowship program and the Spaulding physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program and directs the rheumatology musculoskeletal rotation for PM&R. She is adjunct faculty for the MGH Emergency Medicine ultrasound fellowship and also teaches POCUS to Harvard Medical School students. Dr. Kohler is a USSONAR faculty mentor and board member. She is a pioneer in promoting ultrasound through the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. Dr. Kohler has been an invited speaker and directed the 1st Harvard Point of Care MSKUS course & organized multiple CME courses through the ACR and USSONAR. Dr. Kohler also serves as the medical advisory chair for the Arthritis Foundation Board, Boston chapter. Dr. Kohler has educational and research interests in POCUS use in inflammatory arthritides, vasculitis and other rheumatic disesases. Other clinical and research interests include: crystal arthritis (gout and pseudogout), psoriatic arthritis/SpA, immunotherapy related and cancer-related arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis. Her 2nd edition book Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Rheumatology Review is one of the top rheumatology books per Book Authority.
