  • Dr. Neil Siegel is a Family Medicine physician based in Baltimore, MD. He completed his medical education at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine in 1989, followed by a residency in Family Medicine at Providence Hospital/Georgetown University from 1989 to 1992. He served as Chief Resident in Family Medicine 1991-1992. He has been a faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Medicine since 1994. From 1996 - 2011 he served as Clinical Director and then Medical Director of UniversityCare, the University of Maryland Primary Care Network. Since 2010, he has served as Medical Director of Ambulatory Clinical Informatics at the University of Maryland Medical System, where he has been a leading innovator in the use of EHR tools and workflows to improve patient care and provider and staff satisfaction. Dr. Siegel's areas of expertise include Clinical Informatics, Integrating Behavioral Health in Primary Care, Smoking Cessation, and Decision Support. He has contributed to research on tobacco cessation, with a publication in Translational Behavioral Medicine.
    He has also published health services research in the Annals of Internal Medicine regarding coding trends for longitudinal care. He has received recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for various programs, including the Patient-Centered Medical Home and Diabetes Recognition Program. He has been voted Faculty Preceptor of the Year several times by the Family Medicine residents at University of Maryland. During the COVID pandemic he appeared on several local radio and television news programs to provide updated health information to the public.
