Summary

  • Dr. Nicol Bush specializes in repair of hypospadias and related penile birth defects. She is co-director of the only center dedicated solely to hypospadias in North America, based in the Dallas area. She has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters, and a surgical textbook, Hypospadiology.

She is a Dallas native who attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio after graduating with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Dallas. She then completed a 6-year residency program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. After her fellowship training at Children’s Medical Center, Dr. Bush obtained a Master’s Degree in Clinical Sciences, which provides the Hypospadias Specialty Center with a better understanding of evidence-based medicine, choosing the best treatments available for patients and defining patient-centered outcomes.

Dr. Bush is the mother of 4 children (including identical twin daughters) who fill her free time! She co-founded Operation Happenis, a charity raising awareness and providing hypospadias education, and recently edited a children's book about hypospadias repair, How Down There Bear Got Repaired.
