• Dr. Page B. Pennell is the Chair of Neurology and Henry B. Higman Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC.
  She completed her medical education at the University of Florida College of Medicine and her neurology residency and epilepsy fellowship at the University of Michigan. Her former roles include Professor of Harvard Medical School and Vice-Chair of Academic Affairs in the department of neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Associate Professor and Program Director of Epilepsy at Emory University. Dr. Pennell's primary areas of research include pharmacokinetics of anti-seizure medications (ASMs) during different reproductive phases and sex-specific issues for women with epilepsy: pregnancy planning, epilepsy management during pregnancy with an emphasis on optimizing maternal and fetal outcomes, and the effects of neuroactive steroids on seizure provocation. She has been PI on several NIH-funded studies including the Maternal Outcomes and Neurodevelopmental Effects of Antiepileptic Drugs (MONEAD) study. She has published widely on these topics. Dr. Pennell has also been recognized in several top doctor listings by Castle Connolly.
