Dr Petrera has expertise in treating arthritis, and performing hip and knee surgeries including hip replacements. His specific areas of interest are minimally invasive anterior hip replacement surgery. He also performs minimally invasive unicondylar knee replacement and has been on the forefront of introducing robotic total knee surgery to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Under his leadership POA has become one of the leaders in outpatient total joint replacement in Maryland. These are performed at the state of the art POASC Surgery Center in Salisbury, Maryland. He has also contributed to publications on hip arthroplasty, cup fixation and gouty arthroplasty post knee replacement. His clinical trials include work on Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in Total Knee Replacement. He has lectured extensively and is a frequent faculty member at total joint arthroplasty meetings, specifically anterior hip replacement. Dr Petrera continues to maintain a full office and surgical practice and has recruited top notch talent to his joint replacement team serving seven office locations and three hospitals in the region.
