Summary

  • I am a business leader and entrepreneur who has served as a senior executive in the corporate, government, private equity and clinical sectors. A former Stanford Physician and White House Advisor, I currently am President & CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I served as Senior Vice President and was on the Executive Leader Team of United Health Group/Optum. I was responsible for revenue, profit, med expense and quality for OptumCare, the nation’s largest physician practice and value based care business. With over 50% global insurance risk, OptumCare is the leader in payer-provider integration. I held accountability for a >$9 billion P&L and 9,000 team members. I engaged on multiple UHG acquisitions & assisted the CEO in Optum’s population health, behavior health and digital health businesses.

I helped start Doctor On Demand, the nation’s largest provider of video visits and a telehealth benefit for over 30 million Americans. I have held roles as President, COO and the BoD for vRad, a public merger turnaround. Vrad became nation's largest provider of radiology caring for 9 million patients annually through 2500 clients. I served as President of two of the nation's largest primary care and specialty medical groups.

I took leave from Stanford to serve as a White House Fellow and Senior Advisor. I have delivered keynote addresses at over 150 corporations and professional societies. I have consulted for several Fortune 500 firms, vc firms and health systems. Also, served on advisory boards including Walgreens, GE, CareCredit, Mckinsey & the AMA. Advised five private equity firms directly or as a board member. I serve on the Board for the University of Illinois and Stanford Medical Alumni.
