- Patrick Byrne is Chief of the Integrated Surgical Institute (ISI) at Cleveland Clinic, where he leads strategy, quality, and operations for the Institutes seven surgical specialty departments across the Cleveland Clinic's global footprint, including Ohio, Florida, London, and Abu Dhabi. These include Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, Head and Neck Surgery, Breast Surgery, and Endocrine Surgery.
He also serves as Chair of the Cleveland Clinic Department of Head and Neck Surgery, and Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. A practicing facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Byrne focuses on complex microsurgical facial reconstruction, with a particular focus on the treatment of facial paralysis and skin cancer reconstruction, along with elective facial aesthetic surgery. Dr. Byrne continues to serve as the Co-Director of the Randolph Capone Cleft Lip and Palate Program at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
Dr. Byrne is the President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, he served as Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins, where he directed the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship program. He continues to hold a joint appointment as Adjunct Professor of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and Dermatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Byrne is also an entrepreneur, having founded several companies and devices, and served as Chief Medical Officer and Advisory Board member for several others.
Dr. Byrne earned his MD from the University of California, San Diego, trained in Otolaryngology at the University of Pennsylvania, completed fellowship training in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, a healthcare management fellowshp from the Advisory Board, and holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
