- Dr. Tomak began his work in the neurosciences after obtaining his bachelor of science degree in Bioengineering from Syracuse University in 1988. He worked in the design and production of stereotactic devices for the treatment of brain tumors until 1993 when he began his studies at The George Washington University School of Medicine. After graduating with Distinction in 1997, he began his internship in General Surgery at Emory University and completed his residency in Neurosurgery in 2004. While at Emory, Dr Tomak studied the biology of spinal fusion in the Whitesides Orthopaedic Research Laboratory.
Dr. Tomak is board certified in neurological surgery. He been a part of the New Haven medical community since 2004 and has been listed in the top doctors in Connecticut over multiple years.
His practice is focused on the management of spinal disorders, and specializes in neoplastic, vascular, traumatic, rheumatoid, degenerative spinal conditions. He has a special interest in minimally invasive spine surgery.
Dr. Tomak has published multiple peer-reviewed articles on topics including spinal fusion outcomes and nerve injury during surgery. Notably, his work has been recognized in the field, garnering numerous citations. He is also a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
