Summary
- An physician executive with experience in business, healthcare and technology. Experiences have provided a perspective that understands the triad of leadership, management and the clinical aspects of healthcare. A track record of building successful, customer-focused departments within organizations and delivering creative solutions for improved financial results, better operations with high performing customer service and increases in team morale. Willing to tackle extreme challenges, continuously learning, mentoring and sharing my attitude of whatever it takes in creativity, personal time investment and leading teams to meet, and when possible, exceed goals.
#Being a lifelong learner has allowed me to steer my career successfully along diverse paths because there is always something new and exciting to learn. This includes serving as a Chief Information Officer (CIO), Director on several Boards including a health insurer, Vice-president of Medical Affairs (VPMA), a Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO), health plan Medical Director for quality & population health, Family Physician, Emergency Physician, a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), an award-winning Entrepreneur and a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Finally, I mention technology which has been an area of focus over the last several years. Technology is important but it’s also about the people using it and how well it supports their work efforts. Admittedly, while the EHR and other digital solutions are impressive, or painful, depending on your point of view, they are merely an enabler for the care teams; an underlying tool that really depends on the proper inputs from the clinicians using the tools to make it so they want to use it for their patient care. It also has to be tuned to deliver the necessary information at the right time to engage patients in their own care in order to deliver the Triple Aim of population wellness, cost modulation and the best patient experience and outcomes possible.
