  • Peter A. Cole, MD, Professor, University of Minnesota, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, is the Division Medical Director for HealthPartners Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, and Trauma Director, Regions NorthStar Twin Cities Trauma Network in addition to its Fellowship Director. Regions Level I Trauma Center also serves as an AO North American Fellowship Center for international trainees.

    He is a graduate of the University of The University of Miami School of Medicine, Orthopaedic Residency at Brown University in Providence before sequential fellowships in Orthopaedic Trauma at Brown and Harborview Medical Center. After 4 years in Jackson, MS at the University Medical Center, he was recruited by the University of Minnesota and HealthPartners to build a trauma program at Regions Hospital in 2002.

    Dr. Cole has developed a worldwide reputation as an educator and researcher on advanced trauma topics including scapula fractures, shoulder girdle, sternoclavicular and chest wall injuries, complex lower extremity articular fractures, and minimally invasive pelvic ring surgery. He has written over 50 Book Chapters and has published 220 Peer Reviewed investigations in the scientific literature.

    Dr. Cole is a member of the American Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and Christian Medical and Dental Society. He is a former AOA North American Traveling Fellow, and an active faculty member for AO International. He and his family have run an Orthopaedic Medical Mission in the Amazon Jungle of Peru since 2004, <www.scalpelatthecross.org> where he enjoys challenging surgical problem solving for orthopaedic conditions in all phases of natural history rarely seen in North America.
