Summary

  • After working in a panoply of emergency room, hospital, and clinic settings post residency, I have exclusively maintained a private practice in general psychiatry in Manhattan for many years. I focus on providing treatment for all of my patients through gaining knowledge of their psychological, interpersonal and biological functioning. I always endeavor to help my patients improve insight and self-awareness which naturally allows for broader emotional expression, a fuller and more flexible array of coping strategies to negotiate conflict, and a greater degree of general satisfaction and enjoyment within relationships. These days, the majority of patients are referred or self-present to an outpatient psychiatric office complaining of depressive and/or anxiety-related symptoms connected with complicated relationship difficulties and personality issues. I therefore always try to establish a treatment relationship with my patients involving psychotherapy or psychoanalysis as a mainstay. I also provide psychopharmacologic management when indicated but never as an exclusive form of therapy. Part of my practice is dedicated to conducting forensic evaluations in civil law matters and divorce mediation to lessen the emotional and financial burden of property and custody disputes.
