- Rahul Khurana, MD, is a Retina Specialist and President/CEO at Northern California Retina Vitreous Associates, one of the largest retina practices in California. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco. He currently serves as the Secretary of Online Education for the American Academy of Ophthalmology which includes Eyewiki, the ONE Network, and Clinical Webinars; and the Past President of the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the AAO's Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE) Network.
After graduating from Stanford University with a BS and MS in Biology, Dr. Khurana earned his medical degree at Duke University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, as well as a fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular Inflammation. This was followed by a Vitreoretinal fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore.
He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific papers, presented over 200 abstracts and presentations, won numerous national awards and been involved in more than 100 clinical trials. He serves as a reviewer for Ophthalmology and Ophthalmology Retina. Dr. Khurana was recognized by the American Medical Association as one of the top 51 emerging national leaders expected to make a strong impact on the future of medicine.
