  • Dr. Rana Pullatt serves as the Director of Robotic and Bariatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at MUSC. He is a Professor of surgery specializing in general , gastrointestinal and Bariatric surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is also board certified in obesity medicine.

    Dr. Pullatt is a highly-skilled laparoscopic and robotic surgeon who specializes in weight loss surgery, revisional weight loss procedures, laparoscopic hernia surgery, and laparoscopic foregut surgery. He is actively involved with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and is cochair of the International Committee, He also is actively involved with the Program Committee of the ASMBS. He serves as the President of the Carolinas Chapter of the ASMBS.

    Dr. Pullatt is also involved in several committees in SAGES which is the premier organization in laparoscopic surgery and has helped train other surgeons in innovative procedures. He is an internationally recognized expert Bariatric Surgeon and has several podium presentations in National and International meetings

    Dr. Pullatt also serves as director of bariatric surgery VISN-7, which provides bariatric surgery for veterans from South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. He performed the first laparoscopic duodenal switch in South Carolina.
