Summary

  • Raymond K. Young II, MD, FACC FASE, is a native Washingtonian and board-certified non-invasive cardiologist with Adventist HealthCare and Howard University Faculty Practice Plan. He earned his medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, and completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Young completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Medstar Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University.

    Prior to joining Adventist HealthCare and Howard University Faculty Practice Plan, Dr. Young served in several roles at MedStar Health, including the regional physician quality liaison for the division of cardiology, the regional medical director for the ambulatory echocardiography labs, and the clinical co-director of the pulmonary hypertension program. He also was an assistant professor of medicine for the Georgetown University School of Medicine. In his current role he serves as the medical director of cardiac services for the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan and cardiovascular ICU at Howard University Hospital. His professional interests include improving quality metrics, community outreach and medical education.

    Dr. Young’s focus is improving the health of all patients with cardiovascular disease. He strongly believes that demonstrating kindness, empathy and at times a paternalistic approach is key to establishing a solid healthcare alliance with patients.
