Summary
- Dr. Richard Baum is a cardiologist in San Antonio, TX and is affiliated with Methodist Hospital. He received his medical degree from University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine and has been in practice 35 years. He specializes in noninvasive imaging with an interest in administration and adult congenital heart disease. I have been involved in management of the group since 2002 and administration for the HCA system since 2010. I have served as president of the group since 2009. We affiliated with Methodist/HCA in 2010. It has been a great experience and we have become one of the largest groups in the nation with nearly 50 cardiologists and 12 advanced practice providers. We cover 4 of the 6 campuses for Methodist in San Antonio with an outreach area the size of Connecticut. Main Methodist hospital is now the largest hospital in Texas and is now a 3 star STS rated CV surgical center along with being the highest rated hospital for PCI(percutaneous coronary interventions) by Healthgrades. As the system level Quality Chairman for CV services, I have watched and participated in this transformation. It is inspiring to be a part of something larger than yourself. It has been an amazing ride so far and isn't done yet.
