- Dr. Richard Gallo is a Physician Scientist, Distinguished Professor and Chair of Dermatology at the University of California San Diego. His research in the innate immune systems of the skin led to discovery of antimicrobial peptides on skin and greater understanding of the microbiome. He was trained at the University of Chicago, the University of Rochester, Johns Hopkins and Harvard Medical School. He is the author of over 400 publications and has been cited over 85000 times. His accomplishments have led to several major awards and election to prestigious socities.
