Summary
- Richard J Macchia, MD, FACS is a urologist based at the Cleveland Clinic Florida at Weston since moving there in 2009. He completed his medical degree at New York Medical College in 1969 and pursued a residency urology followed by a fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He was professor, chair, and ACGME program director at Downstate from 1981-2009. Dr. Macchia was appointed Distinguished Teaching Professor by the SUNY chancellor. He also served as Chief of Service at University Hospital-Brooklyn and Kings County Hospital Center. He has published over 120 research articles, textbook chapters, and abstracts. From 2013-2018 he was Affiliate Professor at Florida Atlantic University. He is a member of the Florida Urological Society. Dr. Macchia has received multiple honors, including the Distinguished Contribution Award from the American Urological Association. He served as president of the NY Section of the AUA in 1995 and chair of the Section on Urology of the NYAM. He currently limits his practice to non-interventive outpatient urology.
