Overview of  Dr. Mesco

Richard Mesco, DO, is a psychiatrist based in Glendale, CA, specializing in child and adolescent and general psychiatry. He completed his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute at UCLA Medical Center, and his psychiatry residency at New Jersey Medical School University Hospital, after completing a rotating internship at what was Union Hospital, now a part of Overlook Medical Ctr. He received his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine after receiving a BA in Biology and Science in Human affairs from Princeton University. Dr. Mesco currently works as a child, adolescent, general, and geriatric psychiatrist at LifeStance Health in Glendale, CA where he has been since 2021. Dr. Mesco served for many years as a Public Health Service medical officer and Area Child Psychiatrist for Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas in the Indian Health Service, responsible for child and adolescent mental health services for 27 Indian tribes. He was later Medical Director of Behavioral Health for three Centura Health Hospitals in Colorado Springs, and then as Medical Director for Child and Adolescent Mental Health for the Island and County of Hawaii under the Felix v. Caetano Federal Judicial Consent Decree. He has published chapters on the evaluation and treatment of ADHD in the Yale New Directions for Mental Health series, as well as on the evolution of the psychiatric diagnosis of Adolescents and Children historically, up through ICD-10 and the DSM-V.
