He graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. He was employed as an emergency medicine physician at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, WV from 1989-1994. He entered private practice as a family physician at Mountain State Family Practice in Peterstown, WV in 1994. He joined the Monroe Health Center in Peterstown, WV in 2000. In 2002, he started a family medicine practice in Princeton WV-Melrose Family Medicine, a member practice of WVVA Healthcare Alliance. In 2024, he closed Melrose Family Medicine and was employed as a family physician with AccessHealth at their Princeton, WV clinic.
    In 2025 he left AccessHealth to accept a medical directorship with Aledade, a company which partners with physicians to form and administer ACO’s, improve patient outcomes.
