Summary
- Robert A. Gabbay, MD, PhD, FACP is Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President at Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He has over 35 years of clinical and research experience. His research focuses on improving primary care health care delivery to enhance diabetes outcomes and patients’ experiences.
Dr. Gabbay served as faculty chair of Pennsylvania’s statewide Chronic Care Model-focused Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) initiative (Chronic Care Initiative) involving more than 150 primary care practices with support from 17 payers. He has also worked as Principal Investigator on two AHRQ-funded PCMH projects before coming to the Joslin. The first, studied the experience of 25 practices in the first regional rollout of the Pennsylvania initiative in Southeast Pennsylvania. Dr. Gabbay was also selected to help develop state-level infrastructure for primary care transformation under AHRQ’s IMPaCT program.
Dr. Gabbay’s focus at the Joslin Diabetes Center is to foster innovation within the walls of Joslin as well as disseminating these approaches regionally, nationally, and internationally.
