  • Roger Sur, MD, is a board-certified urologist and director of the Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center at UC San Diego Health. He completed an endourology society fellowship at Duke University.

    Dr. Sur is founder of one of the largest US Southwest kidney stone centers that focuses on surgical treatment, medical prevention, and research into causes of kidney stones. It is the only center of its kind here in Southern California dedicated to patients suffering from kidney stones. He has transformed most kidney stone surgery to pure outpatient surgery.

    Additionally, Dr. Sur also brings a wealth of experience to patients seeking robotic surgery. He retired as Navy Captain after 21 years as a naval physician in numerous overseas deployments.

    Dr. Sur is a Professor in the Department of Urology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, and serves as the program director and founder for the joint UCSD Kaiser Permanente Laparoscopic/Endourology Fellowship Program.

    He is also an associate professor of Surgery at the military medical school, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

    Dr. Sur has published numerous manuscripts and books and serves as content reviewer for the American Urological Association.
