- Dr.Roman Bronfenbrener is a board certified medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologist at Pennsylvania Dermatology Specialists. Dr. Roman maintains an academic affiliation at the University of Pennsylvania in the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine where he is a Clinical Associate Professor involved in seeing patients with complex dermatologic needs and educating the next generation of dermatologists.
Dr. Roman graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University, where he received the S.Oakley Van der Poel award for academic merit in the study of biology. He earned his medical degree with honors from Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical school, where he was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical society. He completed his dermatology residency at Stony Brook University Hospital and at the Memorial Sloan Kettering skin cancer center. During this time, he trained in dermoscopy: using a powerful handheld microscope to diagnose skin cancer in its earliest, and most treatable, form. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident, an editor for Cutis, a recipient of the Beiersdorf Resident of Distinction award. He has conducted volunteer clinical work at the Native American health service and has also completed the JAAD editorial fellowship.
Dr. Roman’s responsibilities at UPenn consists of a private clinic for the most difficult dermatologic diseases, as well as directing teaching clinics and lectures. Dr. Roman practices the whole spectrum of the field, including medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. His clinical interests include dermoscopy, surgical and medical management of skin cancer, and management of both acute and chronic dermatologic conditions. He enjoys using minimally invasive techniques to help enhance a patient’s appearance with minimal downtime. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two young children. His hobbies include aerial photography, bike riding with his family in tow, and local museums and exhibits.
