  • Ronald H. Blum, MD is a board certified medical oncologist who for nearly 40 years has had leadership responsibilities in clinical practice, research, teaching and administration.

    In 2014, Dr. Blum retired from his clinical and administrative duties as the Director of the Beth Israel Cancer Center and Director of Cancer Centers and Programs, Continuum Cancer Centers of New York, and as a Medical Director, Continuum Hospice Care, New York, NY. Until 1996, he was at New York University Medical Center as Professor of Medicine and the deputy director of the NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

    Dr. Blum has extensive clinical experience caring for people with cancer. His research interests are in the clinical trials of new agents and their integration into combined modality approaches to cancer treatment. He has co-authored publications that have defined new practice standards for lung cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, sarcomas, prostate cancer, and supportive care. He has been a consultant to the NCI and served on editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals. The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) honored him as Fellow of ASCO (FASCO) for his contributions to the Society, having served as chair of multiple committees.

    Dr. Blum continues his academic activities as Adjunct Clinical Professor, Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine Icahn School of Medicine and Clinical Professor of Medicine (Oncology) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also continues as chair of data safety monitoring committees, both for academic and industry sponsored late clinical trials. In addition, he provides expert medical opinions.

    Dr. Blum obtained his MD as a thesis honors graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and did residency and fellowship training at Johns Hopkins, National Cancer Institute (NCI), and Harvard.
