Summary
- Dr. Hannush is Attending Surgeon on the Cornea Service at the Wills Eye Hospital, Department of Ophthalmology, Jefferson Medical College. He graduated medical school from Wayne State University and completed his Ophthalmology Residency at George Washington University and his Fellowship training in Corneal and Refractive Surgery at Emory University. His interests are full and partial thickness corneal transplantation (endothelial replacement), complex cataract and anterior segment reconstructive procedures including permanent keratoprosthesis (artificial cornea), and laser vision correction. He lectures nationally and internationally on these topics. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in ophthalmology texts. Dr. Hannush served as Scientific Program Chair of The Cornea Society and is Medical Director of the Lions Eye Bank of Delaware Valley. He also served on both FDA's Ophthalmic Drug and Devices Panels, including the evaluation and approval of the VISX excimer laser in 1995. In 2000 Dr. Hannush was given the Excellence in Teaching Award by the Wills Eye Hospital residents. He received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Honor Award in 1998 and the distinctive Senior Achievement Award in 2008. Dr. Hannush was chosen by his peers as one of the best in his specialty.
