- Samuel S. Badalian is the Chief of the Department of Women's Health at Bassett Healthcare Network in New York, as well as a Clinical Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He received his medical degree in 1981 from Yerevan State Medical University, followed by a Ph.D. in Physiology in 1986 and a Doctor of Medical Science degree in 1990. He specializes in Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery. He has published over 45 scientific articles, book chapters, and abstracts, and is an internationally recognized lecturer and pelvic surgeon. He has served as a contributing editor and reviewer for several journals, including the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. He has also served as a grants reviewer for the American Urogynecological Society Foundation.
In 2020, Dr. Badalian received a prestigious Fulbright Scholar award from the United States Department of State. This award enabled him to embark on a groundbreaking project to develop a comprehensive urogynecology program in Armenia.
During his time as a Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Badalian traveled to Armenia on three occasions between 2021 and 2022, spending a total of six to eight weeks in the country. During his visits, he provided specialized training in Urogynecology to a group of five talented Armenian fellows. Dr. Badalian has contributed to multiple publications, most notably on topics relating to urogynecology, the prevalence of pelvic floor disorders, and the impact of vitamin D on these conditions, receiving numerous citations. He has received CMS Meaningful Use Certifications and is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
