Sandra Chaparro, MD, is a cardiologist based in Miami, FL, specializing in heart failure and transplantation, as well as mechanical circulatory devices. She completed her medical education at Escuela Colombiana de Medicina, with subsequent training in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at the University of Missouri-Columbia and Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Chaparro has post-doctoral experience in infectious disease from Stanford Health Care. She currently serves as a Director at Baptist Health South Florida. Dr. Chaparro has extensive experience in general cardiology and has focused on infectious, Chagas, viral, and infiltrative cardiomyopathy. She has contributed to multiple published studies on heart failure, heart devices, pulmonary hypertension, and has been involved in multiple clinical trials. She is also a Professor at the Department of Cardiovascular Science, Herbert Wertheim School of Medicine, Florida International University. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the Heart Failure Society of America.
