Summary
- Dr. Scott T. Guenthner, MD founded Dermatology Center of Indiana, PC, in February, 2002. Born in Columbus, Georgia, Dr. Guenthner obtained his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He was an early inductee and officer in the University of Iowa chapters of both Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha. These two organizations are the highest honors an undergraduate and medical student can obtain academically. Dr. Guenthner was also awarded the Hancher–Finkbine Medallion as a fourth-year medical student. This medallion is awarded to outstanding students who achieved highly both academically as well as have been tremendous leaders on campus during their education.
Following medical school, Dr. Guenthner completed a transitional internship at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Services in Indianapolis, Indiana. He then completed a three-year Dermatology residency at Indiana University in Indianapolis where he served as the Chief Resident.
Dr. Guenthner is board certified as a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is also a member of the Indiana Academy of Dermatology.
Beyond dermatology, Dr. Guenthner served on the board of the University of Iowa Alumni Association and was named the 2001 University of Iowa Alumni Association National Volunteer of the Year. In addition, Dr. Guenthner, an Eagle Scout, volunteers locally for the Boy Scouts of America.
Dr. Guenthner is married to Shannon (Powell) Guenthner, a 1998 graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in social work. They have five wonderful children, Evan, Grace, Katherine, Margaret, and Matthew. As a family, they are heavily involved in the local community with children in various sports leagues and activities such as soccer and basketball, competitive horseback riding and dance. Philanthropically committed to the metropolitan area as well, the Guenthner Family supports various organizations such as the Indianapolis Zoo, Traders Point Christian Church
