Summary
- After completing my Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, I was appointed Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at Maimonides Medical Center, and eventually Professor of Medicine to the State University of New York Health Sciences Center. As Division Chief and Director of Medical Education and Research, I have been responsible for the medical education of dozens of fellows in gastroenterology, medical residents and medical students. Under my leadership, we have maintained an active Clinical Research Program, publishing over 200 abstracts, papers, books, and book chapters. Our research papers have received great recognition, often presented at the distinguished Plenary Sessions and many papers/presentations have received scientific awards.I continue to struggle for the delivery of excellent healthcare. Serving as Chair of the National Affairs Committee for the American College of Gastroenterology, as a member of the Board of Directors for AAAHC, and serving the Health and Policy Committee for the ASGE, led to my obtaining a law degree at Fordham University. My work to improve the care of patients led to the development of a state-of-the art Endoscopy Facility and the largest private gastroenterology group in New York. Currently, I serve on the Board of Trustees for the American College of Gastroenterology and as Director of the Facility (The Greater New York Endoscopy Surgical Center) and the Group (Brooklyn Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Associates), while maintaining my busy private practice. Excellence in patient care in the community and Nationally are my twin goals
